The Idea
When Daniel Noskin came to the University of Maryland, he was interested in joining a fraternity, but overwhelmed by the number of options and disappointed there was no tool in place to learn and communicate with the various frats on campus. He took things into his own hands and formed GreekRecruits LLC, relying on Scott Block to create GreekRecruits.com, the premiere Greek recruiting tool of the University of Maryland.
Stumbling upon the idea for GreekRecruits.com, it was essential for me to hire the correct person to design and develop all of my website needs so my college start-up business could succeed. Scott Block was crucial to the success of Greek Recruits LLC not only because he was able to turn my idea into a finished website quickly, but also because he spent a lot of time working with me to ensure that the website was exactly what I wanted. Along with the time and effort he spent to make sure that everything was correct, he contributed ideas that made the overall product much better. Scott proved to be very reliable and I was able to communicate with him at any time for minor or major changes. His extensive knowledge of computers allowed any complex idea to be attainable. Scott Block is the man you want to help launch or expand your business to the next level.— Dan Noskin, Greek Recruits founder and CEO
The Site
The site is now backed by University of Marynd’s North-American Interfraternity Conference. In less then a year 20 fraternities at the University of Maryland have voluntarily signed up, and there are already over 50 students registered on the site. The site is already active and growing at the University of Maryland with plans to expand nationwide in the coming months
Greek Recruits is a custom vertical social network. Students interested in Greek life can sign up for an account, providing personal information that fraternities and sorrorities can use to select students who are a perfect fit for their organizations. Greek organizations can sign up, providing information and multi-media to make advertise themselves to students.
Students use an easy to use, fast search and filter tool to narrow down the Greek groups and find the ones they are interested. They can convey general interest to organizations and send them direct messages. On the other side, Greek organizations can use their own search and filter tool to recruit students they think will best fit their group. Messages can be directly sent to students.
Additional features of the site include event management for Greek chapters featuring custom Google Maps and a calendar, email notifications, and social network integration with Facebook and Twitter. Greek Recruits was built with scalability in mind and is configured to be rapidly expandable to additional universities with no down-time and minimal effort and time required.
